AMAGI, Fukuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Veteran Midori Yoneyama carded five birdies and a pair of bogeys to overwhelm the field of 108 golfers and take sole possession of the lead at 3-under-par 69 on the opening day of the Vernal Ladies on Friday.
Yoneyama capped her round with a bogey on the 579-yard, par-5 18th but was good enough to stay two strokes clear of Ai Miyazato, Shiho Oyama, Mika Adaniya and Samantha Head of England.
