Kazuaki Kobayashi of Meiji University won the men's 1,500 meters for his first title in three years on the second day of the three-day speedskating national invitational championships on Saturday.
Kobayashi, ranked third in the overall national standings, clocked 1 minute, 57.10 seconds at Iwate Prefectural skating center to post his first victory at the nationals since 2001 and second overall. Tadayuki Shibuya was second in 1:58.09.
