Japanese fans of Australian Rules football will taste a slice of Australia, a traditional football meat pie flown in all the way from Darwin, while watching Saturday's Grand Final to raise money for their local team.

While the humble meat pie costs a mere 2.50 Australian dollars ($1.70) in Australia, Australia Football League lovers in Japan will pay $A15 while watching a live broadcast of the game between the Brisbane Lions and the Collingwood Magpies, ironically known as the "pies," Japanese Australian Football Association director Troy Beard said.

Pie proceeds will go toward the Tokyo-based Samurais team.
