SHIZUOKA – Brazilian striker Magrao grabbed his 11th goal of the season to earn Gamba Osaka a 1-1 draw away to Shimizu S-Pulse in the J. League first division on Sunday.
Shimizu looked to be on course for a third straight win in the second stage after South Korean star striker Ahn Jung Hwan had fired them in front after 32 minutes at Kusanagi stadium.
But Gamba pressed hard for an equalizer and were rewarded when second-half substitute Magrao headed home a cross from compatriot Harison eight minutes time.
The result leaves both teams with eight points from five games in the second stage, with Shimizu in fifth in the table, two places above Gamba.
