Former three-time World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight champion Joichiro Tatsuyoshi said Monday he will have a 10-round nontitle bout against a world-ranked Mexican on July 6 in Osaka.

Tatsuyoshi, who returned to the ring for the first time in three years and four months by stopping Sean Sor Ploenchit of Thailand last December, will take on Hugo Dianzo, the WBC's 14th-ranked bantamweight, at the Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium.

Tatsuyoshi, who will turn 33 on Thursday, is expected to take a crack at a world title before the end of the year if he clears Dianzo, who dropped a 12-round decision to Thailand's Veeraphol Nakonluang on May 1.

Dianzo has a record of 29 wins, including 14 knockouts, against nine losses with a draw, while Tatsuyoshi is 18-6-1 with 13 KOs.
