Australian Patrick Johnson set this year's world fastest time in the men's 100 meters of 9.93 seconds with Japan's Shingo Suetsugu finishing a meter behind Monday at the Mito international track and field meet in Ibaraki Prefecture.

With the tailwind registered at 1.8 meters a second, 0.2 meter off the maximum limit, the 30-year-old Cairns native overtook the front-running Suetsugu near the 70-meter mark for victory, setting a new Australian record.
