Veteran skier Takanori Hagiwara overturned a deficit of more than two minutes as he came from behind to win the Nordic combined national championships on Friday.

Placing 17th in Thursday’s ski jumping, Hagiwara, 29, started the cross country leg 2:30 off the pace but charged into contention on the second lap of the 15-km race before going on to edge Jun Sato for his first title.
