Southpaw Trey Moore held the Yakult Swallows to one run on six hits and struck out nine Saturday as the Hanshin Tigers matched a 64-year-old club record with a 3-1 victory over the Yakult Swallows.

Moore (2-0) went the distance on 128 pitches at Jingu Stadium in Tokyo, pitching out of jams in the fourth, fifth and ninth innings as Hanshin remained unbeaten in the Central League with its seventh straight win and matched the 7-0 start of the 1938 Tigers.

Moore also collected three hits and scored on a single by Atsushi Kataoka in the third inning.

Hanshin also got solo homers from Akihiro Yano and Derrick White, who made a diving catch in left field in the ninth inning to extinguish Yakult's hopes for a rally.

Dragons 8, Carp 6

Leo Gomez got Chunichi rolling with a three-run homer in the first inning and the Dragons cruised to an win over the Carp at Hiroshima Stadium.

Chunichi starter Kenta Asakura (1-1) gave up 12 hits over seven-plus innings, but limited the damage to just four runs to pick up his first win since joining the pro ranks in 2000.

PACIFIC LEAGUE

Hawks 10, BlueWave 3

Daiei left fielder Pedro Valdes homered in two straight at-bats as the Hawks racked up 14 hits in downing Orix at Green Stadium Kobe to extend their win streak to six .

Valdes smacked a solo homer in the eighth inning and added a two-run blast in the ninth for his third and fourth homers of the year.

The BlueWave lost their sixth straight game from the season opener -- the first time in four years they opened a season with six straight losses -- and are yet to grant new manager Hiromichi Ishige a win.

Kenji Jojima, who went 3-for-5, and Morgan Burkhart had two RBIs each.

Hawks hurler Keizaburo Tanoue allowed three runs on seven hits over the distance and picked up his first win.

Buffaloes 7, Marines 1

Hiroshi Takamura threw a three-hitter for eight innings and Norihiro Nakamura hit a two-run homer to lead Kintetsu over Lotte at Chiba Marine Stadium.

Takamura (1-0) struck out five and also gave up four walks, but allowed only an unearned run in the first inning to give Kintetsu its 12th straight win over Lotte since last July and leave the Marines without a win in six games this season.
