A fourth round of COVID-19 vaccinations, aimed at preventing the development of severe symptoms, began in Japan on Wednesday, targeting only people age 60 or older and those between the ages of 18 and 59 with underlying conditions.
People age 60 or over are asked under the vaccination law to make efforts to receive a fourth shot — a second booster shot — against the coronavirus under the publicly funded emergency inoculation program, which is expected to swing into full gear in June or later.
