Two men died and another remains missing after a pusher tug and a barge sank early Tuesday off Hirado, Nagasaki Prefecture, the Japan Coast Guard said.

The 100-ton boat and the 1,300-ton barge with six crew members sank at about 3:40 a.m. after sending a distress signal, the coast guard said. The coast guard pulled the bodies of Sakumi Oura, 59, and Katsuhiro Maruyama, 46, from the water and is still looking for skipper Kazuhiro Takeya, 48. The three other rescued crew members are fully conscious, according to the coast guard, which is searching for the missing man.

The pusher tug and the barge were anchored off Hirado. The weather was fair at the time of the sinking.
