A 16-year-old girl was arrested Thursday after allegedly slashing a 10-year-old girl with a knife on a street in Mitaka, western Tokyo, police said.
The girl, whose identity has been withheld because she's a minor, was caught holding a knife. The victim suffered minor cuts on her left arm and the fingers of her right hand, police said.
According to the Mitaka Police Station, the victim was attacked at around 4 p.m. Thursday near the entrance of a friend's home, which she was visiting.
The police said they are cautiously investigating, including whether the suspect can be criminally charged, as she is making incomprehensible remarks.
The attack took place in a residential area some 1.6 km south of Mitakadai Station on the Keio Inokashira Line.
