Leopard injures man in Nepal suburb, is captured alive

Officials say a leopard wandered into a suburb south of Nepal’s capital Friday and attacked a man who was walking along a road.

The man was not seriously injured.

Police official Megh Bahadur Khatri said forest guards and police were quickly called to the suburb, Kirtipur, and found the leopard inside a house, where they shot it with tranquilizer guns.

Forest officer Radha Gharti said the animal was later released in a forest north of Kathmandu.

Kirtipur is near a wooded area and wild animals occasionally enter houses in search of food.
