Hello Kitty characters will be featured on some Seibu Railway Co. train cars from Saturday in a bid to draw visitors to the Chichibu mountainous area where the operator serves.
Under the campaign, dubbed "Hello Kitty meets Chichibu," a four-car train bearing the Sanrio Co. characters will run between Hanno and Seibu Chichibu stations on the Ikebukuro and Seibu Chichibu lines, according to Seibu Railway. On the opening day, a Hello Kitty mascot will appear at ceremonies at Hanno and Seibu Chichibu stations.
Recreational activities aimed at encouraging visitors to Seibu Railway stations and local tourist spots are also being planned, with special pins offered as mementos.
The campaign will run through March 27.
