The following is an English translation provided by the Foreign Ministry of the announcement that Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and his South Korean counterpart, Yun Byung Se, made Monday on the "comfort women" issue at a joint news conference in Seoul:

The Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) have intensively discussed the issue of comfort women between Japan and the ROK at bilateral meetings including the Director-General consultations.
