A teenager was arrested Thursday for allegedly killing his 51-year-old father at his home in Sapporo, after turning himself in and admitting to the slaying, police said.

According to the Sapporo police, the 18-year-old hit his father with a bat-like object at around 11 a.m. Thursday.

His 20-year-old sister found their father on a sofa bleeding from his head and called an ambulance. The bloodstained apparent murder weapon was found in the room, they said.

The teenager lives with his father, older sister and a 14-year-old younger sister, but relations between father and son were stormy.

The father had consulted the police many times about his son's violently acts at home, but the teenager had reported his father as well to a child consultation center, claiming mental and verbal abuse.
