The Japan Federation of Bar Associations has urged the government to take measures against hate speech and other racially motivated discrimination, and to bring the country into compliance with the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
Amid calls from foreign countries for Japan to clamp down on racial discrimination, the JFBA said in a position paper that discrimination harms the dignity of people of other ethnic backgrounds and fosters a sense of discrimination throughout society.
