Prime Minister Shinzo Abe spent his time off playing golf, his favorite pastime, near Mount Fuji all day on Tuesday.

Since returning from his weeklong trip to the United States on Sunday, the prime minister has stayed at a retreat in the village of Narusawa, Yamanashi Prefecture.

He planned to rest until Wednesday, playing golf with friends and others, according to aides.

At Narusawa Golf Club on Tuesday, Abe, his wife Akie and friends played golf from the early morning to the late afternoon.
