An earthquake in Shikoku with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 shook Tokushima Prefecture on Friday morning, the Meteorological Agency said.

The quake occurred at 10:25 a.m. and originated in the south of Tokushima at a depth of around 10 km. It registered upper-5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale to 7 in the town of Mugi. No tsunami warning was issued.

Shikoku Electric Power Co. said it has not detected any problems at its three-reactor Ikata nuclear plant in neighboring Ehime Prefecture.
