This year's rainy season in the Okinawa area appears to have ended, three days later than usual and 15 days later than last year, the local meteorological observatory said Thursday.

The rainy spell in the area began May 5 and lasted 52 days, according to the Okinawa Meteorological Observatory.

Precipitation on Ishigaki Island totaled 458.5 mm during the period, compared with 383.1 mm in an average year, while that on Iriomote Island was lower than average.
