Yakult Swallows official Masayuki Okumura will head for Miami to check on slugger Wladimir Balentien following his arrest on charges of domestic violence, the club said Wednesday.

"We want to confirm what happened quickly and try and get him back in time for camp (starting Feb. 1)," Okumura, who is in charge of overseas players, said at the Swallows front office.

"The main focus will be on whether this leads to a prosecution. Hopefully talks will smoothen everything out."

Balentien sought bail Tuesday, a day after he was arrested.
