A man was killed Sunday after he fell out of a hot air balloon before it crashed into a lake in Gunma Prefecture, police said.
Takuo Hayasaka, 70, was thrown out as the balloon fell into Lake Yanaka at around 7:10 a.m., the police said. The balloon took off again and landed in a field nearby.
Two other people aboard, Kanako Fukuoka, 46, and Hiroyuki Takamoto, 86, were uninjured. All three belonged to a ballooning club.
The police are investigating.
