The publisher of the Michelin Guide said Thursday it will release a new guidebook next spring giving ratings to restaurants and hotels specifically in Hiroshima Prefecture.

At a press conference in the city of Hiroshima, Bernard Delmas, the president of Nihon Michelin Tire Co., said Hiroshima is an excellent target for the new book because it attracts many tourists — including to Miyajima, a UNESCO World Heritage site — and local restaurants provide an array of delicious dishes from both the sea and the mountains.

It will be the fourth guidebook for Japan, following ones dedicated to the Tokyo metropolitan area, the Kansai region surrounding Osaka, and Hokkaido.

Seven Japanese researchers have been rating restaurants and hotels in Hiroshima since last fall and the company aims to launch the guidebook as early as May.
