JGC Corp. plans to construct a large solar power plant in the city of Oita, JGC officials said Monday.
The 27,000-kw plant will cost ¥8 billion to build and go online next May, they said.
All the electricity generated by the plant will be sold to Kyushu Electric Power Co. under a fixed-price purchase system for renewable energy, they said.
The plant's annual output will be enough to power roughly 9,000 households.
