The nation’s six largest online game site operators have drawn up a guideline banning a controversial sales practice that will soon become subject to government regulation.

The move announced Friday comes after DeNA Co., Gree Inc., Mixi Inc. and three other major operators said they would scrap the “complete gacha” practice, which can result in users, particularly children, incurring exorbitant charges.
