Former National Police Agency chief Takaji Kunimatsu and Makoto Watanabe, a former grand chamberlain to two emperors, will be appointed Sunday as councilors at the Imperial Household Agency, sources said.
They will succeed Takakazu Kuriyama, who resigned as a councilor Saturday, and will advise Emperor Akihito on key issues.
