Toyota unit to make parts in Georgia

Toyota Industries Corp. said Thursday it will set up a subsidiary in Georgia in February to produce compressor parts for automobile air conditioners.

Toyota Industries will invest about ¥28 billion in the U.S. subsidiary to produce the auto parts in the United States instead of using exports from Japan to cope with the strong yen, while meeting growing demand for fuel-efficient compressors in the country.

The subsidiary, Toyota Industries Compressor Parts America Co., will start operation in September next year to produce pistons and other parts, the Toyota Motor Corp. group firm said.
