Kirin Holdings Co.'s soft-drinks unit sees opportunities in Japan for mergers and acquisitions as the declining population dampens growth, Kirin Beverage Corp. President Hitoshi Maeda told reporters Monday in Tokyo.
"Kirin Holdings has done a lot of M&As overseas, but we believe even in this shrinking domestic market, there are opportunities for M&A activities," Maeda said. "Even if it is a manufacturer of vending machines, if there is a right match, we will actively seek the opportunity." He said there is "nothing specific" regarding acquisition targets at present.
