A fire broke out Saturday night on a Maritime Self-Defense Force fleet support ship docked at Yokosuka port, the MSDF said, noting none of the crew were injured.

The MSDF is probing the cause of the fire, which broke out at 8:40 p.m. on the 8,150-ton Tokiwa at Yokosuka Naval Base. The fire may have started near a generator in the machinery room.

The fire was brought under control after 11 p.m. Most of the crew had the day off but some were still aboard, the MSDF said.
