Emperor Akihito will remain hospitalized for a while longer, as his temperature rose over the weekend and he is still coughing heavily, the Imperial Household Agency said Monday.
The extension of the 77-year-old’s hospital stay will likely make it impossible for him to attend a banquet for Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema scheduled for Wednesday at the Imperial Palace.
