Sony Corp. plans to adopt a daylight saving time system in Tokyo and its vicinity to cut power consumption this summer, when power generation capacity is expected to fall short in the area due to the Fukushima nuclear accident.

The firm is negotiating with its trade union to move up daily working hours to cover a time zone for lower power demand at its headquarters and eight other offices in the area covered by Tepco, company officials said.
