WASHINGTON (Kyodo) Senior U.S. officials will make a two-day visit to Japan starting Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen the security alliance and other issues, the State Department said Monday.

Kurt Campbell, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, and Wallace Gregson, assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, will meet with senior officials, the department said. Campbell’s visit is part of a swing through Asia.
