The administration will start a series of debate forums Saturday to promote its trade liberalization goals amid growing concerns over Japan's possible participation in a controversial Pacific free-trade pact.
Tatsuo Hirano, senior vice minister of the Cabinet Office, said he is concerned that opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement has prevailed before the public has seen the initiative's full picture, even if the government itself is still in the stage of gathering information.
