Housing Eco-point offer extended

Kyodo News

The government said Wednesday it will expand the Eco-point incentive program for housing next year to cover solar heating systems for new houses in addition to certified energy conservation measures under an additional economic stimulus package.

Builders or buyers of new houses may get up to ¥320,000 worth of Eco-points if these houses meet the government’s energy conservation standards and have solar heating systems.

Consumers may receive up to ¥300,000 worth of such points by introducing water-saving toilet systems, superinsulated bathtubs and solar heating systems in addition to other energy-saving measures.
