OSAKA (Kyodo) Panasonic Corp. held a ceremony Wednesday in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, to mark the completion of a new liquid crystal display panel plant for flat-screen televisions.

The electronics maker has invested ¥235 billion in the plant, which will produce LCD panels for the company's 32-inch flat-panel TVs, as well as for the increasingly popular 42-inch flat-panel TVs.

The plant aims to shore up Panasonic's LCD panel output in the wake of increased global demand for such panels.
