CANNES, France (Kyodo) The gangster movie "Outrage" by director Takeshi Kitano was screened Monday at the 63rd Cannes International Film Festival.

Kitano, 63, who is vying for the Palme d'Or, the top prize in the main competition division at the festival, received a standing ovation after the screening. The film portrays an internal power struggle in a yakuza organization with Kitano playing a veteran gangster. He also wrote the script and edited the movie.
