WASHINGTON (Kyodo) U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will come to Tokyo on Tuesday for two days of talks on finding ways to spur global growth, the Treasury Department said.

After Geithner's visit to Japan — his first since taking the post — he will move on to a meeting of finance ministers of the 21-member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Singapore on Nov. 12.

"While in Tokyo, the secretary will meet with senior government officials to discuss policies to bring about strong, sustainable and balanced global growth," the Treasury Department said Wednesday.

The department did not say who Geithner will meet in Tokyo, but he is expected to hold talks with Finance Minister Hirohisa Fujii.

Geithner and Fujii met bilaterally in Pittsburgh in September on the sidelines of the financial summit of the Group of 20 major advanced and emerging nations.
