SYDNEY (Kyodo) Australian Trade Minister Simon Crean will become the first Aussie minister to visit Japan since Yukio Hatoyama became prime minister when he arrives for high-level trade talks Monday and Tuesday, Crean’s press secretary confirmed Friday.
Crean has already spoken to counterpart Masayuki Naoshima by phone, but said he is looking forward to seeing how the new government plans to approach the ongoing negotiations toward an Australia-Japan free-trade agreement that began in April 2007.
