The general account budget for fiscal 2010 is likely to reach an all-time high above ¥90 trillion despite the Democratic Party of Japan’s efforts to trim wasteful spending, DPJ lawmakers said.
The prospect for record spending requests by government offices in the next fiscal year comes despite Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama’s order to curb spending to less than the ¥89.14 trillion sought in the initial fiscal 2009 budget.
