BANGKOK (Kyodo) A 40-year-old Thai man appeared Tuesday on local TV to confess to killing a young boy with a Japanese father and the boy's mother and dumping their bodies in Bangkok.

Siriphong Kanchannaniwit, a Bangkok taxi driver, went to a local television station during the evening news hours and made the confession in the presence of police.

The dismembered body of a young boy was found in a suburb of Bangkok on Monday morning, and the body of a woman was found in a separate suburb of the capital. The victims have yet to be identified by the authorities.

Siriphong identified the dead woman as his girlfriend Sunan Srisuwan, 38, and the boy as Sunan's son, 5-year-old Cho Makino, whose father is Japanese.

He said he killed Sunan because she wanted him to kill her former husband but he refused. He added that he did not intend to kill the boy, who was shot when he attempted to shoot Sunan.
