Japan will showcase a full lineup of its creative powers ranging from games, animation and comic books to film, music and fashion through a series of events starting this week to promote them on the international stage and seek more business opportunities.

The events, to be held under the banner of the Japan International Content Festival, or CoFesta, until late October, will begin Thursday through Sunday with Tokyo Game Show 2009, the world's largest computer entertainment show, at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba Prefecture.

Other events of this year's CoFesta, the third of its kind, include the CEATEC Japan 2009 trade show for cutting-edge information technology and electronics from Oct. 6 to 10, and Akihabara Entamatsuri 2009, a festival of "manga," "anime" and other pop culture phenomena held from Oct. 17 to 25 in Tokyo's Akihabara district, a center for "otaku."
