The Tokyo High Court upheld a life sentence Thursday on a man convicted of killing a 23-year-old woman who lived two doors down from him in a Tokyo apartment and mutilating her body last year.
The appeals court turned down the prosecution’s demand that Takanori Hoshijima, 34, be sentenced to hang due to the cruelty of his crime.
