New U.S. Ambassador John Roos plans to arrive in Tokyo on Wednesday afternoon along with his family, the U.S. Embassy said Monday.
Roos, a California-based lawyer and one of President Barack Obama's major fundraisers during last fall's campaign, took his oath of office at a California court Sunday.
The Senate approved Obama's nomination of Roos on Aug. 7.
