KOBE (Kyodo) Two men on a bicycle snatched a handbag containing ¥1 million from an elderly woman outside her home Monday in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, police said.

Tatsuko Nishigata, 77, was unhurt in the robbery, the police said. The two suspects were riding tandem on a bicycle, they said.

According to investigators, Nishigata had just returned from the post office, where she withdrew the cash from an automated teller machine. Her house is currently under renovation and the cash was necessary to pay for the work, they said.

The stolen bag contained her bank card as well as her bankbook, they said.
