NAGASAKI (Kyodo) A private high school in Nagasaki Prefecture did not allow a 15-year-old female applicant with leukemia to take its entrance examination in January, saying it would not be able to accommodate her special needs, school officials said Monday.

She had asked Nagasaki Nihon University Junior and Senior High School in Isahaya to allow her to take the exam in a private room to avoid exposure to others to lessen the chances of contracting an infectious disease, but the school rejected the request, saying it did not have a room available for her. It also said it would not be able to provide sufficient care if she passed the exam.
