NAGOYA (Kyodo) The body of an Iranian man was found Friday in the front passenger seat of a burned out car found on a road in Anjo, Aichi Prefecture, police said.

The deceased was identified as Morteza Farhadi, a 46-year-old Iranian national residing in Inabe, Mie Prefecture. He was found with multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, the police said

The owner of the car, which had a Nagoya license plate, told the police that it was forfeited as payment for debts.

A witness who called for an ambulance said the car went up in flames in the early morning.

"The car's horn sounded at around 1:50 a.m. and continued blaring, and when I looked outside it was engulfed in flames," the 26-year-old male resident said.
