Hosei University has suspended eight students indefinitely for using cannabis, it said Saturday.

The male sophomores — five economics majors and three social sciences majors — attend Hosei's Tama Campus in Machida, Tokyo, it said.

The university discovered the cannabis use through an in-house probe but has not reported it to the police.

Some of the students have denied using cannabis, the university said.

In November, the university expelled one student and suspended five others over the same drug.

The eight revealed Saturday bring the total punished to 14 at Hosei.
