UTSUNOMIYA, Tochigi Pref. (Kyodo) Police turned over to prosecutors Tuesday their case against five junior high school boys in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, who allegedly suffocated a classmate into unconsciousness during a “hot-sand bathing” game.

Although Tochigi police believe the incident was purely an accident and the five had no intent to kill the 13-year-old boy while playing in an elementary school playground last November, he remains unconscious, leading to Tuesday’s action.
