IBM Japan Ltd. said Tuesday that Senior Managing Director Takayuki Hashimoto will be promoted to president Thursday, replacing Takuma Otoshi.

The 54-year-old Hashimoto has been in charge of systems development. Otoshi, 60, who has been serving as both president and chairman, will dedicate himself to the chairman's job, the unlisted computer company said.

The reshuffle will follow IBM Japan's completion of a key operation to integrate computer systems at all 670 branches of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ earlier this month.
