A Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer and a small workboat collided Monday at Yokosuka port in Kanagawa Prefecture, but no one was hurt and no fuel leaked, the Japan Coast Guard said.

The 5,200-ton Shirane's port side bumped the 9.1-ton Honeimaru No. 6 when they were negotiating the narrow mouth of the port at around 8:30 a.m., the coast guard said.

The destroyer, which returned to its base in Kanagawa Prefecture from repairs in mid-November, was embarking on a one-day training exercise, according to the MSDF.
