The government on Friday appointed Shuji Shimokoji, ambassador to Panama, as ambassador to Venezuela, effective immediately.
Shimokoji, 60, joined the Foreign Ministry in 1970 and took up the Panama post in September 2003 after serving as minister at the Japanese Embassy in the United States.
